Delete your account

How to close your KwezaCare account and erase the personal data held with it.

Last updated 13 October 2026

A health care service by Worketech Limited, in partnership with Wandikweza Organisation

You can delete your KwezaCare account yourself, in three taps, from the Profile tab in the app. Your account closes immediately and your personal data is erased within 30 days. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Request deletion by email

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app

The fastest way to close your account is from KwezaCare itself. You do not need our permission and you do not have to give a reason:

  1. Open KwezaCare and sign in to the account you want removed.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when the app asks you to. Your account closes immediately and you are signed out on every device.

Option 2 — Ask us to delete it

If you have lost access to the app or cannot sign in, we will delete the account for you:

  1. Email info@worketech.co.mw from the email address registered to your KwezaCare account.
  2. Use the subject line "Account deletion request — KwezaCare".
  3. Include your full name and the phone number on the account so we can find it.
  4. We verify that the request comes from the account owner before deleting anything.
  5. We confirm by email once the deletion is complete.

What gets deleted

When your deletion request is processed, the following personal data is permanently erased:

  • Your account and sign-in credentials
  • Your profile — name, gender, date of birth, email address, phone number and home address
  • Your medical scheme name and membership number
  • Your emergency contact and next of kin details
  • Appointment and home visit requests, and the care updates you shared through the app
  • Profile preferences and feedback you submitted
  • Device identifiers, push notification tokens and session records

What must be retained, and why

A limited set of records survives deletion, only where the law or clinical practice requires it:

  • Billing and payment records, kept for the period required by Malawi tax and accounting law, then destroyed. They are separated from your profile.
  • Clinical records created when you received care. These are held by Wandikweza Organisation as your health care provider under its own record-keeping obligations — the app does not store them, and deleting your app account does not delete your medical record held by the clinic.
  • Records we must keep to comply with a legal obligation or a valid court order, for as long as that obligation lasts.

How long it takes

Deletion started inside the app takes effect immediately — your account closes at once and you are signed out everywhere.

All associated personal data is permanently erased within 30 days. Requests sent by email are acknowledged within 5 working days and completed within 30 days of us verifying that you own the account.

Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your account, your history or your preferences afterwards — you would need to register again as a new user.

If you do not want to delete everything

Closing your account is not the only option. If you simply want to step back, you can:

  • Turn off notifications in your device settings
  • Withdraw a permission such as location, in the app or your device settings, and keep using the rest of the app
  • Ask us to correct or update details on your profile instead
  • Request a copy of your personal data before you delete it

To do any of these, email info@worketech.co.mw. We respond within 30 days.
